Under this scheme, farmers can plant solar power plants on their land. 60% of the expenditure to install solar energy will be given by the central government. If your expenses come to Rs 1 lakh, then the government will give you 60 thousand rupees as financial assistance.
In India, more than 75% of people do farming. The country’s economy is dependent on the farmers. But farmers in rural areas need to plant crops. To irrigate, take seeds, etc. one has to take a loan from a bank or money lender. If the crop goes well.

Purpose of Kusum Yojana:
Under the Kusum scheme, by 2022, 30 million pumps in the country will be run with solar energy instead of electricity or diesel.
The total cost of Kusum Yojana will be 1. 40 lakh crore, in which the central government will contribute 48 thousand crores. While the state government will give the same amount.
Farmers will have to bear only 10% of the cost, while 48 thousand crores will be arranged through bank loans.
The first phase includes diesel-powered pumps. Arrangements will be made to run 17. 5 lakh irrigation pumps with solar energy, which will reduce diesel consumption.
The objective of this scheme is to give a double benefit to the farmer. One farmer will get free electricity for irrigation. Secondly, if the farmers make and send them to the grid, then they will also get the price.
Under the scheme, a target has been set to run 3 crore pumps in the country with solar energy.
28000 MW of additional power will be generated from Kusum Yojana 2019.
Benefits of Kusum Yojana:
Farmers will have to pay only 10% in advance for setting up a solar power plant.
The central government will send subsidy directly to the bank accounts of the farmers so that the farmers will not face any kind of problem.
The barren land will also be used by this scheme.
The bank will provide 30% of the total expenditure in the form of a bank loan to the farmers.
The Government will provide 60% of the total cost of the plant as subsidy.
This scheme will give a boost to solar energy.
The operation of the scheme will save electricity and will also save fuel.
Farmers will be able to irrigate their crops at a low cost.
Eligibility for PM Kusum Yojana 2020
Applicant must be a farmer.
It is mandatory to have an Aadhaar card.
The applicant should also have a bank account number.
Components of Kusum Yojana
There are 4 components in the Kisan Urja and Utthan Mahabhiyan Yojana which are as follows: –
First, the government will install a 10,000 MW solar power plant on the wastelands of farmers.
The government will encourage DISCOMs to purchase additional energy generated.
The government will provide 50 paise per unit to purchase the energy generated. The scheme enables farmers to sell their surplus energy to the grid, thereby generating additional income. This component will include a subsidy of Rs 4875 crore.
The central government will distribute 17.5 lakh solar agriculture pump sets to the farmers. The subsidy component for purchasing solar grid pump is Rs 22000 crore.
The government will install the existing 7250 MW capacity agricultural pump set with Rs 15,750 crore and several government tube wells of 8250 MW capacity with a subsidy component of Rs 4800 crore.
